How is Your Privacy Protected Online?

FSB Online Internet Banking system and the CheckFree bill payment system combine to offer the latest industry-approved security technologies to protect our customers' data. This includes a password-controlled system entry, a VeriSign-issued Digital ID for the server, a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol for data encryption, and a firewall to regulate the inbound and outbound traffic. Additionally, our system requires access via a browser that supports 128-bit encryption, and all sessions are automatically logged off after a period of inactivity and navigation away from the secured portal.

Visitors to the Farmers State Bank website remain anonymous. We don't collect personally identifying information about site users unless you'd like to provide such information to us. Standard software is used to collect and store ONLY the following non-identifying information about our visitors: domain level name, the date and time you access our site, and the website's Internet address from which you linked directly to our site. If you submit an online application, it will be transmitted over a secure connection, alerting you to this fact. This is where confidential information, such as your account or social security number, is requested. Visitors may provide us with personal information via email or our feedback form. This information is used internally, as appropriate, to handle the sender’s request and manage the Farmers State Bank website. All information provided to the bank by customers and applicants will be used following our privacy policy and other applicable regulations. Visitors should, however, keep in mind email is not necessarily secure against interception. If you do not agree with the use of this information or are not comfortable with the level of privacy, please use the clear button in online forms or cancel an email before it is sent. Visitors should call FSB at (319) 377-4891 if requests or statements include sensitive or private information, such as your account numbers, credit card numbers, or social security numbers.

Protection From Access & System Compromise

You agree that Farmers State Bank is not responsible for any electronic virus, malware, or other security compromises that affect your electronic devices and your access to FSB Online. You accept sole responsibility for monitoring, scanning, and keeping all electronic devices from possible compromise, malware, and other intrusion threats. Using only secure and malware-free electronic devices and trusted internet connections would be best. Additionally, it would be best to keep your login and access credentials secure and private from compromise. Farmers State Bank will never ask you for your FSB Debit or FSB Credit Personal Identification Number (PIN). If you are asked for this information, please immediately call (319) 377-4891 and report it to a customer service representative. You should only use secure email to initiate banking transactions or provide personal identifying information. A high level of encryption does not protect email messages sent to us through regular email.

Electronic Messaging & Notifications

Customers should send us general inquiries concerning maintenance and other issues via email at fsb@fsbmail.net or through the Contact FSB form on our website. We will send you notices, disclosures, and other information required under the Electronic Funds Transfer Act and Regulation E of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. We may send this information to you by physical mail to the record of address, posting it on our website, or by email. If you have given us an email address or postal address, we are entitled to rely on that address and assume that you receive messages sent to that address, until you give us notice in writing or by email that the address is no longer valid. You agree that information we post to our website or send by email or regular postal mail will be deemed delivered at the time it is posted or sent. Information you send us is considered delivered when we receive and review it. If we send you a notice, disclosure, or other message electronically and you wish to print it but cannot, call or email FSB, and we will provide you with a paper copy.

New Services

Farmers State Bank plans to expand the services we offer our FSB Online customers from time to time. When such services become available, we will update this agreement and notify you of the new service. By using FSB Online after the new services are available, you agree to be bound by the terms in the revised agreement.

Authorization to Charge Accounts

You or your authorized representative are responsible for all transfers you or your authorized representative make using FSB Online. You authorize us to debit your designated account(s) for any transactions completed with FSB Online. You agree that we may comply with transfer instructions entered by anyone using an authorized Access ID and Password, regardless of the restrictions placed at the account level.

If you permit another person to use FSB Online or give them your Access IDs and Password, you are responsible for transfers or advances that person makes from the deposit and loan accounts linked to your online application, even if that person exceeds your authorization.

Availability

On the date you enter the transaction, funds must be available in the account from which you wish to transfer them.

Restrictions on Transfers from Savings & Money Market Accounts

Under Federal Reserve Board Regulation D, you may make an unlimited number of deposits or transfers into a savings or money market account; however, you may make no more than six transfers or withdrawals out of such an account per statement cycle (not counting transactions made at ATMs, in-person transactions or automatic transfers). Transfers made by telephone, personal computer, or funds automatically transferred from a savings or money market account to another deposit account for overdraft protection are counted toward the six total permitted monthly transfers or withdrawals. If you exceed the restrictions more than three times during a 12-month period, we may close the savings or money market account and transfer the funds to a checking account.

Correcting or Canceling Your Transfer

You cannot cancel your transfer after it has been entered into FSB Online and the information transmitted to us. However, you can correct information about a transfer before you send it to us, and you can use FSB Online to reverse a transaction after it has been entered.

Documentation & Verification of Transfers

The date and amount of transfers made through FSB Online will be shown on the Online banking screen and on your printed statements for the accounts from which and to which the transfer is made. Online banking transfers made prior to 6:00 p.m. will be posted the same business day.

Address and Telephone Number for Notification of Unauthorized Use
If you believe your Access ID and/or Password have become known by an unauthorized person, or someone has transferred money without your permission, call Farmers State Bank immediately at: (319) 377-4891 or email us at fsb@fsbmail.net.

Your Liability for Unauthorized Use

Tell us immediately if you believe your Access ID or Password has become known to an unauthorized person or an unauthorized transaction involving your account has occurred. Telephoning is the best way to keep your possible losses to a minimum.

If you tell us within two business days after you learn that your Access ID and Password have become known by an unauthorized person, you can lose no more than $50.00 if an unauthorized person uses your personal codes without your permission to process a transaction. If you do NOT tell us within two business days, and we can prove that if you had told us, we could have stopped someone from using your Access ID or Password without your permission, you could be liable for as much as $500.00.

Also, if your statement shows electronic funds transfers you did not make or authorize, tell us immediately. If you do not tell us within 60 days after the statement was mailed to you, you may not get back any money you lost after the 60 days if we can prove that we could have stopped someone from taking the money if you had told us in time. If a good reason (such as a long trip or a hospital stay) keeps you from telling us, we may extend the period. Every day is a business day except Saturdays, Sundays, and Federal holidays.

Farmers State Bank’s Liability for Failure to Make Transfers

If we do not make a transfer on time or within the correct amount according to your instructions, we will be liable for the damages you proximately caused. However, there are some exceptions. We will not be liable, for instance, if:

  1. Through no fault of ours, your account does not contain enough money to make the transfer.

  2. The transfer would exceed the balance in the deposit account you use for overdraft protection, the credit limit on your overdraft checking line of credit, or the line has been closed.

  3. Your computer, the software, phone lines, or the bank's computer systems were not working properly or were temporarily unavailable, and this problem should have been apparent to you when you attempted the transfer.

  4. Despite our reasonable precautions, circumstances beyond our control prevented the transfer. These circumstances include telecommunication outages, postal strikes, fires, floods, and other natural disasters.

  5. We have placed a "hold" on your account or remitted funds to another party with your knowledge, under reasonable business procedures or in compliance with legal processes such as garnishment, tax levy, court order, etc.

  6. We have received incomplete or inaccurate information from you or a third party involving the account or transfer.

  7. We have a reasonable basis for believing that unauthorized use of your Access ID, Password, or Account has occurred or may be occurring; or

  8. You or we have terminated your FSB Online banking Agreement or closed the account.
